Don has been working with wood his whole adult life. During this time he has acquired an extensive knowledge of wood and woodworking. This experience and expertise allow him to utilize wood others may see as scrap to create wonderful things.
A lover of the natural world, Don enjoys showcasing wood’s natural beauty in his pieces. He is constantly evolving his methods and techniques to better capture the essence of his materials.
A true artisan, each of his creations is meticulously crafted. This is a quality easily overlooked by their rustic appeal, but greatly appreciated by those who possess them.
Michael enjoys discovering new materials to work with and new techniques to apply to them. Sourcing a wide variety of items ranging from used railroad spikes to organic wood dye is one of his skills. He is also always on the lookout for new and unusual things for 6 Mill to create – both decorative and functional.
With a much less traditional background in woodworking than Don, Michael is constantly seeking out both new and obscure methods and tools for woodworking. Their combination of approaches often yields novel results they employ when creating new pieces.
Michael’s favorite phrase is, “Are you really going to throw that away?”
